Self Build mortgages are available for people building new homes which allow up to 95% of the purchase of the plot of land and then 95% of the building costs, up to an overall maximum loan to value of the finished property of 85%. This is available on a self-certified basis and usually has no redemption penalties. When the property is fully built it allows you to remortgage to attain a better rate of interest or just sell the property.
